The perspective and voice of parents is missing from the broad discussion on the mental condition of the young. At the same time, it is the parents who bear the greatest burden of taking care of their children’s mental health. This is many times a multi-year process that leads to destabilization of the entire family system. Often, this is a road for parents to travel alone and with a tremendous sense of anxiety.
As a foundation working to support parents of children in mental health crisis, we want to build our programs based first and foremost on the needs of those we serve – the parents. That’s why we designed a survey to learn about parents’ experiences. Our goal is to listen, analyze and then incorporate their needs in the process of designing solutions and support programs.
We believe that every parent, and every family, knows exactly what they need to ensure the proper development of their children.
Do you have an experience of your child’s mental health crisis? Would you like to share this story anonymously? We invite you to participate in the first edition of the “Parent Needs Survey” conducted by the Mindset Institute.
The survey consists of a 1.5-hour interview with a researcher, which can take place online. Parents’ experiences will help us create effective programs to support caregivers on their children’s journey to mental health and balance.
