CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH SUMMIT
We were present at the “Child and Adolescent Mental Health Summit” at the Polish Senate, as an organization supporting parents of children in mental health crisis.
The event was held on February 15 on the initiative of Student Action. It was attended by NGOs and activists who have been leading and supporting efforts to improve the mental health of the young, including the Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę | Empowering Children Foundation UNAWEZA, Foundation TVN, Foundation Martyna Wojciechowska, Dominik Kuc, GrowSPACE Poland, Dorota Zawadzka, Instytut “Pomnik-Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka”.
The Mindset Institute was the only social organization that spoke on behalf of parents. We stressed the importance of a systemic approach to solving the problem of youth mental health by taking into account the perspective and needs of parents. After all, it is on them that the greatest effort and hardship lies in the care, upbringing and development (including emotional) of children.
It was encouraging to hear the participation of young people, to hear their personal experiences and also their demands for specific changes. We hope that this dialogue will continue, and we will actively participate in it as an organization representing the voice of parents and the needs of parents. We believe that in a world full of crises, uncertainty, in times of so-called “liquid realities”, supportive parents are an essential part of ensuring that growing children have the right conditions to build psychological well-being.
