UNDERSTANDING THE CRISIS. EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR PARENTS.
The Mindset Institute, in cooperation with the medical staff of the UCK WUM Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, has developed a program of educational workshops for parents of children in mental health crisis. The workshops are designed for parents and caregivers of young patients residing in hospital psychiatric wards, as well as those under the care of a hospital outpatient clinic.
The full series of workshops includes a total of seven 2-hour meetings covering knowledge on:
- the organization mental health system and assistance
- socio-cultural challenges and their impact on the mental health of young people
- child’s development process and challanges
- violence and aggression
- the role of the family system
- self-aggressive behavior in children and adolescents
- basics of parenting interventions
The goal of the program is to support parents in better understanding their child’s mental health crisis. We also aim to equip adults with the knowledge necessary to wisely support children in the recovery process, both in parental interactions and the creation of a supportive home environment, as well as the skills to seek specialized help.
The pilot series of workshops was launched on March 11, 2024.
